Profile notes help you remember who someone is and why you follow them on X (Twitter). Save a short reminder, such as where you met or what they work on, and read it when you see them again. Keep a note personal, or save it into a collection alongside related people, tags, and posts. A collection’s visibility controls who can see the content saved there. To get started, install Whodis for Chrome, open X, and sign in to Whodis from the extension’s side panel.

Add a note from your timeline

You can write a note without leaving the timeline.
  1. Hover over someone’s name or profile photo on a post to open their hovercard.
  2. In the Whodis section, click + Add a note.
  3. Write your note, then click Save.

Recognize someone with a saved note

After you save a note, a small blue Whodis badge appears beside that person’s handle on posts. The badge tells you that you have saved context about them. Hover over their name or profile photo to read the note. The blue Whodis badge beside Sam Altman's handle after a note is saved.

Add a note from a profile page

  1. Open the person’s profile on X.
  2. Find the Whodis section below their profile details.
  3. Click + Add a note, write your note, then click Save.

Read and update your notes

Open the person’s hovercard or profile to read your saved note. Click your note to edit it, then click Save to keep your changes. You can also open Whodis from the Chrome toolbar and choose Notes. Search by name, handle, or note text to find a saved note. You can delete a personal note from this list after confirming the deletion.

Keep an unfinished note

Whodis keeps unfinished notes as drafts on the current device. If the hovercard closes or you leave the page, reopen the same person’s hovercard or profile to continue. Click Save to save the note to your account, or Discard to remove the draft. Drafts stay on that device. They do not sync to other devices.

Who can see your notes?

A personal note is private to your Whodis account. The person you write about cannot see it through their X profile. You can also choose Add to a collection in the note editor. A note saved to a collection follows that collection’s access settings. Check the collection’s visibility before saving information you want to keep private.
